Former Crystal Palace manager Iain Dowie is in the frame for current vacant Oldham Athletic manager’s job, according the Manchester Evening News.
Dowie started his managerial career with the Latics in 2002 but left after one year and went on to manage Crystal Palace, Charlton Athletic, Coventry City and Queens Park Rangers.
The former Northern Ireland striker has not held a post with a football club since a short stint as football management consultant at Hull in 2010, which ended in the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
Current caretaker boss Dean Holden and former Cheltenham manager Mark Yates were believed to be two of the three candidates for the job, with overseas coach Paul Ashworth making up the three man list however the 50-year-old is said to be in the running.
Holden has led Oldham to three wins and four defeats since Lee Johnson’s departure to Barnsley in February.
The Latics currently sit 16th in the Sky Bet League One table and finish the season at home against Peterborough on Sunday.
