Former Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony has told BBC Sport that he would be open to rejoining the Welsh club for a third spell if they were to open to having him back.

The Ivorian frontman previously signed for the then Premier League outfit back in 2013 from Vitesse Arnhem of the Eredivisie, with the player going on to notch an impressive 35 goals before departing for mega-rich Manchester City.

After taking in spells with City and Stoke, the 32-year-old then returned to Swansea before then leaving again in July 2019, with the player now finding himself a free agent once more.

Speaking to the BBC recently, Bony was quick to discuss his future in the game, whilst talking up a return to the Swans:

"Everything is possible in football, I'm never going to say no.

"If both parties are happy - why not?

"It is my home here in the UK and I would be happy."

Quiz: Have any of these 22 players ever been in Swansea City’s academy?

Bony has been training with League Two side Newport County recently as he seeks to find a new club following his departure from Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.

The Verdict

I think this could be an interesting option for Swansea as the club knows full well how potent Bony can be in front of goal when he is in form.

Fitness would obviously be the determining factor behind a move, however the fact that he is training with Newport can only help him in the long run as he looks for a club.

He would be a good back up option to the likes of Jamal Lowe up top and for that reason I'm sure Steve Cooper would consider it if a deal was financially viable.

The link will always be there due to the fact that the player has moved back to these shores and for that reason this could be a rumour to keep an eye on over the next few weeks.
