Lee Johnson would be open to an approach from Sheffield Wednesday should the Owls identify him as a potential replacement for Garry Monk, as per the Sheffield Star

The Owls are on the look out for a new manager after removing Monk from the dugout yesterday afternoon, coming under a week after news broke of them getting six points restored from their initial 12-point deduction.

They are now firmly in with a chance of survival this season but Dejphon Chansiri evidently feels as though he wants someone else to take over and oversee that, rather than leaving it with Monk.

According to the report, both Paul Cook and Tony Pulis are among the names in the hat for the role, but Johnson is also understood to be watching developments and would consider taking the job on if he was offered it.

The Verdict

Johnson left Bristol City towards the end of last season and has been out of a job since, likely taking time to assess his spell at the Robins and having a bit of a switch off from football.

His openness to this role suggests he's looking at getting back into the game, though, and if he did land the gig he'd be eager to show that he can get a side promoted out of the Championship, after falling short at Ashton Gate.
