Speaking to Goals on Sunday, former Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has predicted where the Bluebirds will finish this season under his successor Neil Harris.

Warnock left the club last month having been in charge since October 2016, overseeing the side's promotion to the Premier League in the 2017-2018 season before dropping straight back down again.

The 70-year-old chose to leave the club following the 1-0 Severnside Derby defeat to Bristol City on the 10th November, with Neil Harris being appointed less than a week later.

Harris has seen his Cardiff side in inspired form however, with the former Millwall manager yet to lose in four games as the Bluebirds have risen to eighth and sit just one point outside of the Championship play-off places.

Warnock said: "It's a good squad, I've left a good squad there. I think they will get in the top two, never mind the top six. The squad is really... after last year, when you get relegated you worry about what will happen to you.

"We lost four or five, (Aron) Gunnarsson, Bruno Manga, Harry Arter, (Victor) Camarasa, who hasn't had a look in at Crystal Palace yet, so to lose all those players and try to replace them.

"I just thought 'the fans had been absolutely amazing with me' so I just thought 'I should probably stay and steady the ship'. I probably should have left but I had to stay to steady the ship and I'm glad I have now because I've left them a good squad and it's a great club, fabulous club."

Harris has seemingly revitalised the Cardiff side during the opening few weeks of his reign at The Cardiff City Stadium, with Lee Tomlin and Marlon Pack players who appear in inspired form as they have become a major part of Harris' side so far.

The Verdict

Cardiff are more than capable of breaking into the top six this season, and they are being tipped for a spot in the play-offs if Harris and his players can keep this run of form going.

The new Cardiff manager has the players at his disposal that are capable of finishing in the play-off places, and he has the experience of gaining promotions after leading former club Millwall to a League One play-off victory a few seasons ago before helping them stabilise themselves in the Championship.
