Cardiff City midfielder Marlon Pack has sent a message to his former teammate Matty Taylor after the Bristol City loanee scored against Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Pep Guardiola's side comfortably dispatched the plucky Oxford United side 3-1 in the end but Taylor had them worried, equalising right at the start of the second half.

QUIZ: Bristol City through the decade: How much can you remember about Bristol City’s 16/17 season?

Watching from home, Pack shared his thoughts on his Instagram story and also reminisced about his personal scoring exploits, writing: "He loves it! Listen it's not as easy scoring against Man City as some of us make it look."

The 29-year-old was sent to the Kassam on a season-long loan back in the summer after becoming surpluss to requirements to Lee Johnson, and has been enjoying life under Karl Robinson's stewardship.

Last night's strike was his ninth in 17 appearances in all competitions, providing an extra two assists in that time as well as Oxford chase promotion.

Pack netted the Robins' only goal of their home leg as they were dumped out in the semi-finals of the same tournament by City back in January 2018.

The verdict

Fair play to Pack, if I ever managed to score a goal against Manchester City I would bring it up every day until the day I died.

It is good to see that he clearly still gets on with his former teammates as well. His exit was a bit of a surprise in the summer but with the Robins adapting well, it is one that has not caused much of a rift at all.

However, I am sure that Pack will still be desperate for his Cardiff side to finish above his former side as well.
