Former Bolton player open to taking vacant managerial role

Peter Reid has revealed that he is open to taking on the Bolton Wanderers job if he is offered it, according to the Bolton News.

With over 250 appearances for the club and Bolton being Reid’s boyhood club, Reid is one of the most popular figures in Bolton and, with vast amounts of managerial experience within the Football League and particularly League One with Plymouth Argyle, it could be the perfect fit.

Reid arrived at the club initially as an advisor to help managerial novice Jimmy Phillips during the second half of the season.

However, Reid reveals that he wants to create a winning mentality at the club and help them secure promotion back to the Championship.

He told the Bolton News: ‘If I got offered a chance to sit down and talk, I’d do it.

‘It’s a big job but I have had plenty of them in football. I have always been a competitor and certainly this job is a competitive one.’

With the trouble and instability off the pitch, Reid could be the constant that keeps stability on it and, with vast amounts of experience, he would be an astute appointment and given the correct tools and resources albeit limited, he could bring out the best in the players and inspire them to succeed.

Bolton fans… what do you make of the news? Would you like to see Peter Reid in the managerial hot seat the club? Could he be the key to mounting a promotion challenge? Or is there another manager you’d prefer to see at the club? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
