Wolves will be looking to make it six wins in a row when they make the short journey to Birmingham tonight in the Sky Bet Championship.

However, former Blues player Kevin Phillips thinks the league leaders will face a stern challenge against their lowly neighbours.

Results over the weekend have left Steve Cotterill's men in the relegation zone ahead of the derby, with Wolves coming into the clash as firm favourites. Yet, Phillips, who scored a winning double in this fixture back in 2010, told the Express & Star how the hosts can get something from the game.

"A lot of people think Wolves will win comfortably but I don’t think that’ll be the case. Blues will try and turn it into a scrap. They have a manager who wears his heart on his sleeve."

"It’s going to be an intriguing encounter and it wouldn’t surprise me if Blues nicked a draw. It’s a tight, little pitch there. It’s certainly not as big as Molineux and that might hinder the Wolves players a little bit. But I do think the result will come down to Blues’ game plan and how well they implement it."

The Verdict

This is sure to be a tough test for Wolves and Phillips may be exaggerating when he says a lot fancy Wolves to win comfortably. Blues are strong at home, have beaten Cardiff and have kept four clean sheets in five at St. Andrew's, so when you add that to Ruben Neves' suspension, it's going to be tough.

Although, you can't argue that Wolves will be favourites and Phillips is correct with the approach Birmingham need to take to win.

If you try and outplay Wolves, you'll lose. Cardiff and QPR have both played with a direct style, high intensity and aggressively and they're two of only three sides to beat Nuno Santo's men. Cotterill will surely be using that as his blueprint tonight.
