Reading's Michael Morrison has revealed that he will definitely celebrate if he scores in this weekend's clash with his former side Birmingham City.

Morrison left the Blues in the summer after his contract expired and was snapped up by The Royals and although the centre-back remains fond of his former side, it will not stop him celebrating a goal.

"If I score, I will certainly be celebrating," he said in an interview with the club's official website.

"I haven’t been back since I left, so it’ll be good to see some familiar faces. Hopefully, I know what team to score for.

"I know a lot of people behind the scenes, I was there for four or five years and it was tough to leave there in the summer. But I have come to this club with a different opportunity and I’m really enjoying it here. Birmingham holds really good memories and it’s a really good football club."

QUIZ: Can you name these 15 ex-Reading centre-backs?

Morrison made over 180 appearances for the Blues during his time at St. Andrew's, netting 14 goals along the way in what was a turbulent period for the club.

Last weekend saw the Royals bounce back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats, comfortably beating relegation threatened Barnsley 2-0 at The Madejksi.

They may have been beaten in the FA Cup since by Sheffield United, but as long as they can maintain their form in the league, there are sure to be plenty of happy faces around Berkshire.

It will be far from easy, however, against a Birmingham side who have not lost any of their last ten Championship matches, although the last four have all been draws.

The verdict

I have personally always found players not celebrating against former clubs out of respect a little bit vomit inducing.

You have just scored a goal in a professional football match. You should feel free to celebrate that goal as much as you want.

Obviously you should not go 'full Adebayor' when you do but I think footballers vastly overestimate how many fans would actually care if they did celebrate.

Morrison's bigger problem on Saturday will most likely be trying to contain Lukas Jutkiewicz and Scott Hogan anyway, so I am not sure that he will need to worry about celebrating.
