Former Aston Villa midfielder and current Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie believes league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers can still be caught this season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have gone on something of a blip in recent weeks, failing to win in three consecutive league games for the first time this season.

As well as that, they put in arguably their worst performance of the season against Fulham on Saturday in a game they deservedly lost 2-0.

And, that prompted Hendrie to ask his followers on twitter whether Wolves could be caught.

Whilst there were mixed responses, the once capped former England international replied to a fan saying he thinks the Black Country side can be caught because of the fixtures they have coming up.

Wolves face some very tough away trips in particular in the next six weeks, with their next four away games against Leeds, Villa, Middlesbrough and Cardiff.

With their lead over the Welsh side cut down to six points, and an in-form Aston Villa ten points behind, there is some hope that they can catch the side many thought were already up.

The Verdict

There’s no doubt that Wolves can be caught as they haven’t played so well in recent weeks, although you wouldn’t put much money on them not going up.

However, with away trips to their two biggest challengers on the horizon, it means there’s a lot to play for.

If Wolves avoid defeat at Villa Park or in Cardiff, you would have to say they'll have one foot in the Premier League. But, if they lose both games then it really could set up a dramatic end to the Championship season.
