Daniel Farke will assess his transfer options over the summer as he aims to prepare a squad ready to compete at Premier League level.

This will inevitably involve a string of signings, but Farke may also need to look within due to the financial restraints he is expected to work with in the close-season.

This has now led to one forgotten man staking his claim for a place in the Norwich side next season. Marcel Franke, who has so far failed to make his mark at Norwich City since joining the club in 2017, has said he is ready to fight for his place at Carrow Road.

The defender joined the Canaries in 2017, but he has only managed five league appearances for the club having sent on loan to Dynamo Dresden last season and Darmstadt 98 this campaign.

Franke has never really featured in Farke's plans, but his latest comments suggest he is now eager to change that:

"I will be back from summer on," he told Bild.

"I would never forgive myself later if I had not tried to play in the Premier League. I want to do everything to make my dream come true."

Franke made 25 appearances for Darmstadt in 2.Bundesliga this season, scoring two goals and captaining the side on one occasion.

The Verdict

These are interesting comments as few people would have expected Franke to be involved with Norwich next season.

The Canaries have reached the Premier League with Ben Godfrey and Christoph Zimmermann at the back, and Franke would do very well to oust either from the side.

Given his lack of game time for Norwich so far, it appears these comments are nothing more than a pipe dream. However, he is clearly determined to make his Premier League mark.
