Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson has confirmed that on-loan Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack has no future at the club, following his disappointing loan spell at Fir Park.

The 32-year-old joined arrived at the Scottish Premiership club back in January, signing a loan deal until the end of the season, but things have not worked out as he would have hoped.

The forward made just four appearances for Motherwell, but failed to impress his manager with a series of disappointing and underwhelming performances.

McCormack suffered a calf injury in a game against St Mirren back in February and returned to his parent club last month to receive treatment.

Motherwell boss Robinson confirmed that the player will not be returning to the club next season at his press conference earlier today.

When asked whether the on-loan striker will return to Motherwell next season, Robinson simply said: "No. He won't be back," as quoted by the Daily Record.

McCormack joined Villa on a four-year deal from Championship rivals Fulham back in 2016, but went on to make just 24 appearances for the club, scoring three goals.

The striker has not played for the club since September 2017 and with a year still remaining on his contract, his future at Villa Park remains uncertain.

McCormack has spent time on loan at four different clubs since he joined Villa, but has struggled to make an impact wherever he has been.

The Verdict:

McCormack was one of the most feared strikers in the Championship when he joined Villa three years ago, but things have not worked out as he would have hoped.

It will be interesting to see where the striker goes from here, with his future at Villa Park still uncertain.

One thing is for sure though, he will not be returning to Motherwell any time soon.
