With the January transfer window fast approaching, speculation is rife at Elland Road, with Marcelo Bielsa frantically searching for a new goalkeeper to provide competition for Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

The Whites were dealt a huge injury blow last month, with the news that Chelsea loanee Jamal Blackman had to have his loan spell at Elland Road cut short, after breaking his leg in an under-23 clash.

This has put the goalkeeping area at the top of Bielsa's January shopping list - having already been linked with Burnley's Tom Heaton and Birmingham City's David Stockdale this season.

The latest transfer line has also suggested that Leeds' attention has switched to Newcastle's Karl Darlow and Sheffield Wednesday's Keiren Westwood, however with reports also claiming that the Whites aren't interested in signing the latter, who knows where Leeds go next?

One goalkeeper who hasn't been linked with a move to Leeds, is Southampton's Fraser Forster - he has been frozen out at St. Mary's Stadium and looks likely to depart the club in January, with Stoke City reportedly interested.

Here, we take a look at two reasons why Leeds should be targeting Fraser Forster in January...

Forster is yet to make an appearance for the Saints this season, having fallen behind Angus Gunn and Alex McCarthy in the pecking order at St. Mary's.

At the age of 30, he's hardly one for the future, and isn't likely to be part of new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl's plans.

He is such an experienced goalkeeper having featured in the Champions League for Celtic and making 6 appearances for England, and could be available for practically nothing in January.

Forster comes jam-packed with experience and his expertise could be so important for Leeds.

Having played in the top-flight and at the highest level with England, he'd be a fantastic capture for the Whites.
