Whilst Simon Grayson is appropriately dealing with his fragile defence at Sunderland, his latest move seems to have upset a number of supporters as he looks to gain the services of Bury forward James Vaughan.

The Shakers' key asset bagged 24 league goals last term, but Black Cats fans may feel unhappy with the fact that their beloved club is diving into the third-tier of English football for their transfer business.

Bury did, however, reject that first approach and instead of returning with an improved offer, Grayson has to make a swoop for Millwall attacker Lee Gregory if he wants to guarantee goals this upcoming campaign.

The 28-year-old has regularly been linked with a move to the Championship and will finally be plying his trade in this division having helped guide the Lions to promotion in the League One Play-Off Final last summer.

Gregory is also a recognised goal scorer after netting 83 goals in 181 outings, just proving that he can do it at any level whilst working is way through the ranks of non-league with Halifax Town.

The efficient striker moved to the capital in 2014 and instantly became a hit at Millwall, winning over the supporters, and it won't come as a surprise to see him potentially exiting the club this summer.

Sunderland will want a consolidation campaign in the Championship before they begin to envisage themselves back in the Premier League, and Lee Gregory is definitely the man who can reassure supporters of the club's future.

Sunderland supporters, would you be happy if James Vaughan joined the Black Cats? Does Lee Gregory trigger more belief than the League One ace? Tell us your opinions in the comment section below!
