Garry Monk is doing a good job during his early days as Birmingham City boss, with the Blues on the brink of survival.

Relegation has threatened Birmingham throughout the Sky Bet Championship season, but Monk looks like steering his new club to safety after a string of impressive results.

If Birmingham survive, the chance is that this time next season they won’t be in this position again, particularly with Monk in-charge.

Monk will look to get Birmingham challenging as high up the table as possible, with the play-offs sure to be his aim, just as they were at his previous jobs with Leeds United and Middlesbrough.

The squad at St Andrew’s will need some improving over the course of the summer, but some of Birmingham’s current crop are going to vital next season.

Here at FLW, we take a look at THREE we believe will have a huge impact on Birmingham’s performance next season…

Stockdale has bags of experience and has previously won promotion from the Championship with Brighton and Hove Albion.

Next season Stockdale will be key in goal.

An experienced goalkeeper is important in any side and next season and Stockdale will be massive for the Blues.

Jota has been key to putting Birmingham on the brink of survival, with the midfielder’s performances excellent.

Monk’s task next season will be keeping Jota at this level.

With Jota at the top of his game, Birmingham will be a force.

As important as a consistent goalkeeper will be, a consistent defender will also be huge.

Dean is a talented central defender and Birmingham need him at his consistent best next season.

Monk might look to bring a high-profile name in alongside Dean in the summer, but for us, the 26-year-old will be an important player next season.
