After failing to clinch promotion via the play-offs for the second season running, it really is last chance saloon for Carlos Carvalhal at Sheffield Wednesday next season.

It has already been confirmed that the 51-year old will take the reins of the club for one more year, despite missing out on promotion to the Premier League at the hands of Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town last term.

Wednesday have been recently linked with a loan move for RB Leipzig's Oliver Burke, who signed for the Bundesliga outfit from Nottingham Forest last summer for a reported fee of £13 million.

The 20-year-old made 25 appearances for Leipzig last season but has failed to acclimatise to German football as of yet - therefore he is likely to have many potential suitors vying for his signature this summer, albeit on a loan deal.

One player who Wednesday must look to sign instead of Burke, however, is Derby County winger Tom Ince.

Ince was transfer-listed by the Rams at the back end of last term in order to fund a summer overhaul next year, which came as a shock to many, especially after netting 15 times in 50 appearances for the Rams last season.

The 25-year-old has been a revelation for Derby over the last two years since his arrival from Hull City in 2015, and 25 goals in 83 games, primarily from the wing, makes him even more of a hot topic.

Ince is valued at price of £5.95million on Transfermarkt.com, but newly-promoted Premier League outfit Huddersfield Town have recently had a £7.2million bid for the winger turned down, therefore his signature won’t come cheap at all.

71 goals in a total of 232 career appearances isn’t a bad record by any means for a player who normally operates out wide or in behind the striker, a position that the Owls have been crying out for recently.
Wednesday will be undoubtedly looking to clinch automatic promotion next term after suffering play-off heartache for two years running, and the addition of Ince would be a tremendous coup for Carvalhal's men.
