Southampton have been linked with a move for AFC Bournemouth defender, Tyrone Mings according to the Daily Mirror (17/3, page 72).

Mings is currently on loan with Championship side, Aston Villa and has turned the Villans’ poor run of form around in recent weeks.

The 26-year-old has formed an impressive partnership in the centre of defence alongside Kortney Hause.

Dean Smith is likely to be wanting to make Mings’ loan move a permanent one in the summer, which certainly could be a possibility.

But with Southampton registering their interest, he could be tempted to make the move to the Saints.

If Aston Villa are to win promotion, then they will fancy their chances in signing Mings on a permanent deal.

But who should Villa be targeting in the summer if Mings is to join Southampton?

We look at the three defenders who should be on Villa’s radar.

Find out who they are, below….

Juan Foyth

The Spurs youngster has struggled for regular game time in the Premier League this season and is likely to be tempted with a loan move away from the club.

He has a point to prove and could be a smart bit of business by Villa.

Jack Stephens

The Southampton young central defender has made 14 starts for the Saints this season.

He has a bright future ahead of him, but could fall down the pecking order if the club are to sign Mings on a permanent deal.

Liam Moore

The Reading defender has been a rare bright spark in a disappointing couple of seasons for the Berkshire-based side.

He is fully deserving of a move to a more reputable team, and Aston Villa could certainly benefit from having a player of his quality in their side next season.
