Norwich City might be having a very mediocre season but a few of their players are likely to be attracting interest in the summer.

James Maddison is the most obvious example that springs to mind.

The attacking midfielder has lit up Carrow Road this season and unsurprisingly there are a host of Premier League clubs chasing his signature.

But one man who gets less credit is defensive midfielder Tom Trybull, who might also be on the radar of several clubs this summer.

Here, FLW shines a spotlight on his season stats so far and considers whether he would be a good fit for Southampton.

Trybull is not renowned for his goal scoring ability but he has still struck twice in the Championship this season, with a further goal in the cup.

The former Germany youth international joined in the summer, having spent the season before in the Netherlands and it was unclear whether he would adapt to the physicality of English football.

The answer was yes, he has.

So much so that Norwich moved very quickly to offer him a contract extension until the summer of 2021 earlier this year.

Trybull plays nearly 60 passes per match with a very high pass completion rate of 87.4%, meaning he is able to control and dictate the midfield when in possession.

But his main contribution is breaking up attacks and with 2.5 tackles per game, he is even outshining a number of defenders in that department.

But would he be a good signing for Southampton?

Well, if the Saints go down - as is looking increasingly likely - then they are likely to lose Mario Lemina, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oriol Romeu, Jordy Clasie and perhaps even James Ward-Prowse.

They will need reinforcements in the middle and Trybull has proven his worth at Championship level.

The 25-year-old would be a great addition for a Championship Southampton side but he could struggle to break into their first team if they stay up.
