Lewis Macleod has been identified as a potential Samu Saiz replacement at Leeds United, with the Spaniard edging ever closer to the Elland Road exit door.

Leeds are resigned to losing Saiz in the winter window, with a move to Getafe seemingly inevitable.

According to the Scottish Sun, Leeds will now step up their interest in Macleod in January, with the Brentford man a player that’s on the radar at Elland Road.

So far this season, Macleod has made 16 Championship appearances for the Bees, with the 24-year-old returning three goals and one assist from a central area.

Whilst that’s a lot more productive than Saiz had been, the general feeling is that Leeds could target someone better in the New Year.

Here at FLW, we take a look at THREE players that Leeds should be targeting instead when the transfer window reopens…

The Peterborough creative cog would be a superb option.

Maddison has his flaws, but over the course of his Peterborough career he’s proved to be so creative and deserving of a chance to step up into the Championship.

There’d be an element of risk, but the 25-year-old could adapt and be a massive player.

Diaz is a player that looks to have a huge future ahead of him.

The Manchester City youngster is looking for regular first-team football, which would undoubtedly come at Elland Road.

Bringing him in on loan would arguably be an upgrade on Saiz.

Gomez isn’t a No.10 like Saiz, but Leeds do have other options in that area and it could be argued that the need for a winger is greater.

Bringing Gomez in would be superb business.

The winger is a player that Bielsa knows well and would add a different dimension to Leeds’ attack.
