The Sky Bet Championship’s official Twitter account has revealed the Team of the Season for the 2016/17 campaign, with some of the division’s top performers unsurprisingly featuring.

Brighton and Hove Albion are leading they way for players included, taking four of the 11 positions.

Newcastle United, Huddersfield Town and Leeds United all have two representatives, whilst Fulham have one in the side managed by Terriers’ boss David Wagner, whose Huddersfield side are third in the table and challenging for promotion.

David Stockdale is named as the goalkeeper, behind a back-four of Tommy Smith, Lewis Dunk, Pontus Jansson and Scott Malone.

Jonjo Shelvey, Aaron Mooy and Anthony Knockaert make up the midfield, with three of the Championship’s top scorers in attack – Glenn Murray, Dwight Gayle and Chris Wood.

There are surprise omissions, with Fulham pair Ryan Sessegnon and Tom Cairney not included, along with Newcastle’s Matt Ritchie and Bristol City’s Tammy Abraham.

Controversy also surrounds the partnership of Dunk and Jansson in defence, with Ciaran Clark and Kyle Bartley having fantastic campaigns for Newcastle and Leeds respectively.

With the Team of the Season debate in full swing on Twitter, here is how fans are reacting…
