QPR will end their season against Leeds United on Sunday but fans may be quietly optimistic about what next year could bring providing they have a strong summer.

The West London side have a fine batch of young players coming through the ranks that have made a real impact at Loftus Road in the past few months.

Yet, the R's have still been inconsistent which is why they are only 15th in the table as we approach the final game.

Therefore, it's clear that new additions are needed, particularly defensively. Ian Holloway's men have kept just seven clean sheets all season.

And, one man they have been linked with is Brighton's Uwe Hünemeier.

However, the 32-year old might not be the man to transform the QPR defence. Here we look at three better alternatives...

Firstly, they could look at his Brighton teammate.

With Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk the first-choice partnership, Goldson is going to struggle for game time so may be open to a move.

He is a good defender in the Championship, powerful in the air and capable on the floor.

Even if it's a season-long loan it would be a good deal.

Another option is the Wolves captain.

Batth couldn't establish himself as a regular this season so has little chance of playing next year if Nuno Espirito Santo adds to his squad as expected.

That could put the strong defender on the market and he would be a big player for any bottom half Championship side.

Bolton have it all to do to stay in the Championship and relegation to League One could see several players leave.

Beevers would be one man who would improve QPR even if he hasn't had the best season.

He is strong, aggressive and Holloway would improve Holloway's options defensively.
