Leeds United fans will be extremely disappointed with the conclusion of the Championship season despite making great strides towards the Premier League.

The club appointed Garry Monk last summer and set their aims high after promising fans that they would pay back the price of their season ticket if they failed to make the Play-Offs.

They very nearly did, a catastrophic run of form in April seeing them fall out of the top six and into seventh place. They were then struck with the news that Monk would be departing, joining Middlesbrough last week.

However, they will be extremely pleased that owner Massimo Cellino is no longer connected with the club after Andrea Radrizzani completed his takeover earlier in the year.

A great feature of their summer transfer business last season was bringing in a high number of loan players, one of which was Kyle Bartley from Swansea City.

Bartley formed an excellent partnership with Pontus Jansson and was one of Leeds' best players last year, obviously leading to interest in signing him permanently.

The Swans are reportedly demanding £7.5 million, however, which may price them out of a move.

Instead, they should move for Chelsea centre-half Michael Hector, who spent the season on loan in Germany with Frankfurt.

Hector joined Chelsea from Reading in 2015. He became one of the Royals' best players and particularly impressed in their FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal, limiting Danny Welbeck and then Olivier Giroud for 120 minutes.

He's got decent distribution and had a decent season in the Bundesliga with Frankfurt, finishing eleventh in the table and helping them to the German equivalent of the FA Cup final, where they lost to Borussia Dortmund.

Hector is a very, very talented centre back who would likely cost less than Bartley to bring in and would do just as good a job.
