Lewis Baker is definitely a player whose career is in somewhat of a limbo.

The 23-year-old has struggled on loan at Middlesbrough this season, and has failed to make a mark on the Boro starting eleven.

With him very unlikely to feature in the Chelsea team next season, there is every chance another Championship loan is on the cards, and Sheffield Wednesday could be a destination.

Jos Luhukay will be looking to freshen up his Owls team to help them push for a top six spot next season, after what has been an underwhelming campaign for the club.

Would Lewis Baker be a wise loan signing for Wednesday? Or should they avoid?

We discuss the prospect....

Alfie Burns

A player like Baker would improve the squad at Hillsborough, but I’m not sure he is good enough to improve Luhukay’s starting XI.

Baker’s spell with Middlesbrough has been a flop, and although he will have a point to prove next season, it is hard to see him getting a lucrative move.

After the year that Wednesday have had, they need to be adding proven quality to win the fans back onside, not squad players.

Chris Gallagher

He would be a good addition.

Baker is comfortable on the ball and would encourage a more patient, passing style of play.

Apart from Bannan, the Owls are limited in that area, so Baker would be a welcome signing.

Gary Hutchinson

Lewis Baker would be a wonderful signing at this level and Sheffield Wednesday need a couple of those this summer.

If Luhukay pulls it off, it might just buy him a bit of time with the fans.

George Dagless

It would give the Owls the spark they need - Forestieri and him would do damage.

Wednesday have looked better in recent weeks with players returning but they cannot rest on their laurels in the summer.

They need to sign class players to add to their squad and I think Baker would do that.
