It has been a frustrating season for Nottingham Forest fans to say the least with promotion quickly slipping out of their reach once again.

They were made one of the pre-season favourites to clinch Premier League football back in the summer after splashing the cash but after slumping to mid-table in January, lost manager Aitor Karanka.

Martin O’Neill took over and offered brief hope, but with just eight matches remaining, the top six is looking just out of reach.

News broke on Monday of another signing that nearly happened back in the summer in the shape of Derby County striker Cameron Jerome.

But the experienced marksman revealed that the Rams blocked his move, instead leaving him to join Goztepe in the Turkish Super Lig, report the Derby Telegraph.

So, was this fair enough from Derby? Or were they out of line?

We discuss…

George Harbey

“I think Forest have dodged a bullet with this one.

“When the rumour first started circulating in the summer, I was surprised, because I thought Forest could do a lot better than him.

“When you take a look at his goalscoring record in Turkey, it’s hardly convincing.”

George Brooks

“Jerome is an experienced player at Championship level and could have been a good fit for Nottingham Forest under Aitor Karanka.

“It is very interesting that the Derby hierarchy blocked his move to the City Ground, but given the nature of the rivalry between the two clubs, it perhaps shouldn't come as a major surprise.”

Jacob Potter

“I can see their reasoning.

“You would never want to sell a player to your local rivals, as it could have helped aid their promotion bid.

“But Jerome is simply just picking up a wage at Derby at the moment, which will be hugely frustrating for Derby supporters."
