Charlton Athletic have released a statement on behalf of Roland Duchâtelet urging the EFL to speed up the process of the takeover of the club by East Street Investments (ESI).

The current Addicks owner made it clear that the process "is taking longer than expected", adding that a delay in ratifying the takeover from the governing body could affect the January transfer window for Charlton.

It has been a month since it was formally announced that ESI had acquired the club.

The Abu Dhabi based consortium has had to undergo the the routine owners and directors test by the EFL, as well as prove that the funds being used to finance the club are not linked in any way to the current Manchester City owner, Sheikh Mansour.
