One player who has started to flourish under the stewardship of Dean Smith at Aston Villa is winger Anwar El-Ghazi, who has chipped in with four goals and one assist in his eight appearances so far this season, since moving to Villa Park at the end of August.

But success was not always guaranteed, after a poor show against Norwich City, it looked like El-Ghazi would not be in Smith's plans and he was dropped, but having taken on board Smith's direction on the training pitch, the winger has come back a different player and impressed.

So should El-Ghazi be a guaranteed starter for Villa each week?

We discuss.....

Alfie Burns

For now, absolutely.

El Ghazi is on fire for Villa and looking a real threat.

Whilst he’s in this kind of form, Smith won’t drop him, but Villa have great options and if these levels dip, there are players who can step in.

Jay Taylor

The thing with wingers is their form is so erratic, and to say they should be guaranteed a start each week is a bit of a stretch.

El-Ghazi is on-form and should rightly be starting, but if his form dips once more, then he should be out of the side.

It’s the nature of the wide areas that this is going to happen and with a squad like Aston Villa’s it is more likely than others.

Louie Chandler

He has more than earnt the right.

He was brilliant against Nottingham Forest as a substitute, brilliant against Middlesbrough and even better against West Brom.

He had a slow start, but Smith has to pick the players who are on form.

George Harbey

He shouldn’t be guaranteed a start EVERY week, but right now he should be.

He was superb against West Brom and has been scoring some important goals.

He has some fantastic pedigree and deserves a starting place more often.
