Sky Bet League One side Walsall and Shrewsbury are eyeing to snap up striker Wes Thomas – who has been released by Championship club Birmingham City, according to reports via Shropshire Live.
Thomas spent the large majority of last season out on-loan at Swindon Town and Bradford City, making 16 appearances in all with just five goals to his tally for the 2015/16 campaign.
Walsall will be keen to add a proven goal scorer to their ranks with the Saddlers unsuccessful in their bid for promotion, and striker Tom Bradshaw is attracting interest from several Championship clubs.
The West-Midlands side lost to Barnsley 6-1 on aggregate in the Play-Off semi-finals after a very impressive season.
Wes Thomas, 29, has played for numerous Football Leagues clubs from down the years, including; Rotherham United, AFC Bournemouth (now in the Premier League) and Cheltenham Town. With that wealth of experience it’s clear why Walsall want him.
The London-born striker has also been linked with recently-relegated Charlton Athletic and, up until the latter parts of the season, promotion-rivals Gillingham.
Walsall fans, do you want to see Wes Thomas playing at the Banks’s Stadium in the 2016/17 season? Who else should be chasing the goal-poacher? Let us know below!
