Football League clubs eyeing move for ex-Premier League goalkeeper

Championship side Preston North End and League One outfit Wigan Athletic are reportedly eyeing a deal to bring in Port Vale’s talented 22-year-old keeper, Jak Alnwick, according to HITC.

With the Lilywhites having had an excellent start to their first season back in the Championship, they will be hoping that the lure of Championship football will be enough to coax the young keeper into choosing them over the Latics.

Wigan meanwhile, are starting to gather momentum in their bid for automatic promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking, and will be looking to secure the signature of Port Vale’s young keeper to help their cause even further.

Alnwick wont come cheap, with the Englishman being under contract until 2018, and after some outstanding performances after stepping in for injured Chris Neal this campaign, Vale will most likely charge a premium for their young keeper.

With both sides having a lot on the line this season, with Wigan eyeing promotion, and Preston still looking over their shoulder towards the relegation zone, bringing in a solid new keeper who could steady the back lines of both teams will be a priority.

The only thing remaining to be seen is where Alnwick will be plying his trade come the end of the January transfer window.
