Footage has emerged from inside the Brentford Community Stadium, the new ground that has been built for the Bees ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

The west London club have played in Griffin Park since 1904 but were set to move into the new 17,250-capacity stadium, which is less than a mile away, ahead of the start of next season.

Work began on the new £60 million ground, which will also be used by rugby team London Irish, back in 2018 and was expected to be finished by July but that has been delayed due to the current situation and government guidelines.

It remains unclear whether it will be ready for the start of the 2020/21 campaign but footage from inside the stadium has emerged on social media that provides supporters with a glimpse of what it will be like.

Last weekend, Brentford were scheduled to play their last game at the ground but the EFL has been suspended for nearly two months and it appears unlikely that Bees fans will get the chance to watch their side at Griffin Park ever again.

The west London club will no doubt be hoping that their first season in the new stadium sees them playing Premier League football.

Thomas Frank's side are fourth in the Championship as things stand and looked on course to secure a play-off finish, at the least, before the delay to the season.

The Verdict

Griffin Park was a fantastic old ground and it is a shame to see it go but you'd understand if Brentford fans were excited by the prospect of a new, state-of-the-art stadium.

This footage will give them a glimpse of what the Brentford Community Stadium will be like, though it's tough to get a real idea without the fans in there.

At this point, it is up in the air when fans will get their first chance to watch a game in Bees' new ground, as football may need to return behind closed doors.
