Leeds United’s transfer business has cooled in recent weeks, but there is still the possibility that Marcelo Bielsa could strengthen his squad between now and the end of August.

EFL clubs are still able to add loan signings to their squad, but Leeds have not yet moved to add to their five signings from earlier in the summer.

Throughout the summer, one man who has been loosely linked with Leeds is Marcus Maddison, the Peterborough United forward who was placed on the transfer list by the League One outfit.

With another year of League One football on the cards for Posh, they agreed to make Maddison available. However, nobody has taken up the option to sign the 24-year-old, including Leeds.

Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post, who is so often the source of Leeds transfer news, took to Twitter earlier in the week to reply to a supporter, all but ruling out any move for Maddison.

Leeds’ supporters should be understanding of the club's decision, as the forward isn’t the type of player Bielsa needs to be adding to his squad at this stage of the summer.

Maddison scored eight league goals last season and registered 16 assists, with the 24-year-old having the ability to cover a number of positions in attack.

However, in Samu Saiz, Pablo Hernandez, Ezgjan Alioski and Lewis Baker, Leeds have plenty of options already on their books, with other areas of Bielsa's squad needing to be looked at.

Of course, not pursuing Maddison could be a decision Leeds live to regret, if he goes elsewhere in the Championship between now and the end of August.

However, after a strong start to the season, it’s clear that Leeds don’t need to be too concerned about their creative options, so having Maddison alone is understandable.
