The summer transfer window may have long since closed, but Leeds United fans were given the best news in months on Monday night.

Kalvin Phillips had signed a new deal.

The midfielder put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Elland Road, putting an end to speculation of his departure that engulfed the club in the summer, and he is clearly more than happy to be staying.

During the summer, Phillips was linked with moves to Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers after they failed to win promotion following a heartbreaking end to the season.

It was a season that saw the 23-year-old become a central figure to Marcelo Bielsa's revolution, playing in 42 of their 46 league games and both of the play-off ties with Derby County.
