The summer transfer window is ticking along, with Leeds United still amongst the clubs looking to strengthen their playing squad at this late stage.

Marcelo Bielsa is reportedly looking to bolster his attacking options, with Football Insider linking Leeds with a move for Cameron Jerome, who is seemingly heading for a loan move away from Derby County.

Frank Lampard has worked tirelessly at Derby this summer, strengthening his attacking options, which has left Jerome well down the pecking order, with Martyn Waghorn and Jack Marriott now amongst the players ahead of the 32-year-old.

Jerome has only been at Pride Park since January, with the striker scoring six Championship goals in 20 appearances under Gary Rowett last season.

Prior to his move to Derby, Jerome was influential for Norwich City, who were either fighting for promotion or playing in the Premier League when Jerome was there.

Leeds’ supporters should be encouraged by this transfer update for that very reason.

Bielsa’s side have started well, but there is a lack of real promotion experience within Leeds’ squad, which is something that Jerome would help to address.

With Norwich, and even at Derby, Jerome has felt the pressure of a promotion push, which Leeds hope to be involved in when May comes around.

Of course, this transfer update will shock a few people, but there is no denying that Leeds’ supporters can draw on something positive from the club targeting the experienced Jerome.
