Sunderland fell to their first defeat in 18 matches in all competitions after Tuesday night’s FA Cup second round replay at home to Walsall.

It was the third time in a month the Black Cats had faced off against the Saddlers and thanks to a Liam Kinsella rocket on 52 minutes, their cup dreams and lengthy unbeaten run was over.

Jack Ross named a relatively strong side in the all-League One clash at the Stadium of Light.

It was a match of little industry with just three shots on target from both sides all evening, in what was a below-par performance for Sunderland.

The focus will now be on the hunt for promotion back to the Championship with a busy festive period coming up.

And that is a thought shared by many of the club’s fans after their cup exit last night.

With that said here’s how the Sunderland supporters reacted on Twitter to the 1-0 FA Cup defeat at the hands of Walsall.
