Flynn? Jody Morris? – What is the latest with Cardiff City’s manager search?

Cardiff City are still very much in the hunt for a new manager after the Bluebirds dispensed of Mick McCarthy last month.

The South Wales side currently occupy 21st place in the Sky Bet Championship standings and are now looking for a new man to take them forward and lead them up the table after what has been a disastrous start to the campaign.

Here, we take you through the latest news regarding the club’s search for a new manager as we discuss some of the potential candidates that have been linked with the role.

Michael Flynn

The former Newport County boss is said to be the red-hot favourite with the bookies for the post at the Cardiff City Stadium and would surely jump at the chance to manage at a higher level.

A promising young coach, Flynn left a legacy during his time with the Exiles and would definitely be keen to take on a role that comes with a lot more pressure.

He employed a more possession based game during his time with Newport and would certainly be an attractive option for the Cardiff fans.

However there may be some that believe this is a bit of a bargain option, given that he is without a club.

Jody Morris

Like Flynn, Morris is currently out of work after being dispensed of by Chelsea following the sacking of Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.

The promising coach is now seemingly looking to move into senior management after thriving at youth level with the Blues in the past.

It is said that the Cardiff board are enthusiastic as a candidate but there are some reservations over whether he would be able to adapt quickly to life in a top job.

Morris was previously linked with the Swansea City job prior to Russell Martin’s appointment and is certainly a candidate with a growing reputation.

Michael Beale

A somewhat unknown quantity in comparison to the other two candidates, Beale has been heralded of a key part of Steven Gerrard’s coaching team at Glasgow Rangers.

The promising coach has previously honed his skills with the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool and has recently been a key to the success that has been achieved at Ibrox.

He is certainly an option that Cardiff have on their radar, however there are once again doubts over his ability to take on a top role.

Beale himself has also previously hinted that he would like to move abroad when he aims to step into a managerial role.
