It's that time again.

football league championship play-off

The Sky Bet Football League play-offs are back, and we are set for an enthralling set of matches across the next few weeks.

As we all know that play-offs are a lottery, and essentially whoever turns up on the day tends to win the match - So, the staff here at Football league World have selected who they think will win the play-offs from the three Football League divisions....

Lee Clarke

Championship: Sheffield Wednesday

Carlos Carvalhal's men simply have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Nobody had heard of the Portuguese boss when he was appointed and a season of uncertainty seemed on the cards. Wednesday have one of the best squads in the league and the front two of Gary Hooper and Fernando Forestieri could prove unstoppable.

League One: Barnsley

Like Wednesday in the Championship, their South Yorkshire rivals have nothing to lose.

In November, the Tykes were rock bottom of the table and staring down the barrel of an embarrassing relegation. Instead their sleeves have been rolled up and they have secured a play-off place. Momentum is firmly on Barnsley's side.

League Two: Portsmouth

How Portsmouth haven't finished in the top three with their squad is quite simply baffling. I wouldn't want to be playing Pompey over two games and I fancy them to dispatch of Plymouth quite comfortably before beating either of Wimbledon or Accrington in the final.

Lee Connor

Championship: Sheffield Wednesday

The Owls will win the Championship play-offs.

Just because they have a great squad, great backing, and have a habit of winning when it matters.

They also have Hooper and Forestieri, the best partnership in the division really. No pressure on them either, making the play offs was a bonus. The other clubs are all expected to win it.

League One: Millwall

League Two: Portsmouth

Michael Hasan

Championship: Hull City

Extremely unpredictable this year as always but in my opinion Hull will prevail.

Brighton finished a long way ahead of Wednesday but the squad depth is similar. Brighton missing Dunk will damage the back line and the Kayal, Stephens partnership in midfield has been broken by his suspension.

They will need Knockaert to perform and in my opinion there superiority will show and they will reach the final.

Hull have some momentum and they will beat Derby missing George Thorne with the second leg at a fortress like the KC.

Hull have a stronger squad than Brighton and they will step up at Wembley and edge Brighton.

League One: Walsall

They may of missed out on automatic promotion but there resounding final day win gives them momentum.

Barnsley have it too after beating Wigan to secure there place but I think Walsall will be too strong. Bradford against Millwall is hard to call but I would tip Bradford as they love the big occasion. This may prove the same in the final but Walsall are stronger than Millwall and they will win promotion.

League Two: Portsmouth

The final day disappointment for Accrington where they crashed out of the automatic places after failing to beat Stevenage.

They will be despondent and I think AFC Wimbledon will take full advantage and reach the final.

Portsmouth will edge Plymouth in the dockyard derby but it's hard to call.

The home atmosphere will greatly help Pompey as they continue to progress and they will prove too strong for AFC Wimbledon in the final.

Elliott Wheat-Bowen

Championship: Derby County

In one of the closest and heavily contested play-offs, any of the four teams could win the playoffs.

Both Hull City and Derby County have been unpredictable and shown a level of inconsistency but the have proved they have the squad depth and quality to win on any given day.

Brighton will be disappointed after losing out on the final day to Middlesbrough and the loss of Dale Stephens for the entirety of the Playoff campaign will be a huge loss and Sheffield Wednesday that have drifted under the radar have match winning individuals in Fernando Forestieri, Gary Hooper, and Barry Bannan, however, they still seem a season away from properly mounting a promotion push.

Of the four teams, Derby is my pick. Although they haven't had the best of seasons, I can see them beating Hull City over two legs and in the one-off occasion, they have the players capable of propelling them into the Premier League.

League One: Walsall

Like the Championship play-offs, it's difficult to predict the League One play-off victors as the four teams within the draw have beaten each other.

Bradford's comprehensive victory over Walsall ended their automatic play-off hopes, when they fell a single point short and Barnsley's excellent 4-1 victory over Wigan who went up as champions showed their worth with the aid of talisman Sam Winnall.

Of the four teams, my choice is Walsall.

Despite missing out on promotion with three back to back victories, they have shown they have the momentum also with the quality of the likes of Tom Bradshaw, Romaine Sawyers and Rico Henry in the ranks, they clearly have the quality to complete the feat.

Of the four teams, Walsall is the side that needs to win this play-off battle the most as the likelihood of them being able to maintain that squad with Championship and Premier League sides eyeing up their star players, it could be difficult for Walsall to replicate this success in the near future.

League Two: Accrington Stanley

With Accrington Stanley missing out on promotion on just goal differences, it may be difficult for them to recover from the disappointment to secure promotion to League 1.

Both Plymouth and Portsmouth have shown they have the support and quality worthy of returning to League 1 with AFC Wimbledon as the unlikely option compared to the other three.

My choice for the League 2 playoffs, however, is Accrington Stanley. With both Josh Windass and Matt Crooks leaving the club for Rangers in the summer, they have a point to prove and with the side unbeaten in the league since mid-March, they have the momentum despite the momentary setback of missing out on automatic promotion to make amends with a victory in the play-offs.

With the deadly combination of Billy Kee and Josh Windass proving Accrington Stanley to be a constant threat, despite being an unlikely contender, they've proved over the marathon course of a 46 game season that they have not only the quality to compete but to succeed.

Robert Booth

Championship: Brighton

In my opinion, Brighton are the best team out of the 4 sides. Despite that damaging game at Middlesbrough where they missed out on the top 2, they have plenty of quality to go again and still get promotion. So for me, the Seagulls will win the play-offs.

League One: Millwall

Millwall are in great form going into the game, winning their last 4 games. Lee Gregory has already scored 19 for the Lions this season, and I think he'll net a few more in the play-offs. So I'm backing Millwall for an immediate return to the Championship.

League Two: Portsmouth

I think Portsmouth will triumph in the League Two play-offs, they've won 3 of their last 4 and have beaten all three of the other teams in the play-offs at least once this season. Plus, the Pompey fans will get behind their team in huge numbers which will help carry the team forwards.

Rafie Thompson

Championship: Brighton

Consistency is key in the play-offs and Brighton have been consistent all season their winter slip aside. Their starting XI is one that to me seems most likely to keep a cool head when it matters the most, and despite facing up to a Sheffield Wednesday side with massive support, they have enough talent and quality to overcome any opposition.

League One: Walsall

Walsall narrowly missed out on that coveted second automatic play-off spot and Jon Whitney's men will be keen to make justice in the play-offs.

There won't be any messing around for Walsall and they will be confident of getting past Barnsley and performing in the final.

League Two: Portsmouth

Portsmouth's chance has finally come to begin their long climb up the Football League ladder.

Their fans have waited a long, long time and they deserve to feel the joy of promotion. They have solid squad depth and scored the most goals out of the four play-off teams.

Harry Smith

Championship: Sheffield Wednesday

League One: Walsall

League Two: Plymouth Argyle

Ryan Evans

Championship: Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton have been amongst the top sides all season, and were extremely unlucky to miss out on automatic promotion. And whilst many think that they will be gutted about that, not even Chris Hughton in his wildest dreams would have imagined they would go as close as they did. For that reason, I think that they'll have too much for anyone that will stand in their way.

League One: Walsall

Whilst all four teams are more than decent, Walsall probably have the edge. They would have been more than deserving of automatic promotion, and should come out on top in a close affair with Barnsley. The form they've shown in their last two games, a 3-1 win over Fleetwood in front of the TV cameras, and a 5-0 thumping of a good Port Vale side have been a statement of intent from the Saddlers.

However, should they face Bradford in the final, then Phil Parkinson's could have the psychological edge as they beat them 4-0 at the end of April.

League Two: Plymouth Argyle

Whilst Accrington will definitely be the favourites, don't rule out the Pilgrims. They recently got the better of Portsmouth away, and if they can repeat it and take a lead into the return leg at Home Park the packed ground should be able to see them home.

They also beat Stanley in October, and were extremely unlucky to lose the away game thanks to two late goals. They're the only team in this year's League Two play-offs with recent experience of this stage, which could also be useful for them as they look to finish the season on a high note.
