Middlesbrough face Brighton and Hove Albion in a colossal clash in the Sky Bet Championship at 12:30pm on Saturday at the Riverside Stadium.

riversideeeeee

It is effectively a mini play-off final in the second tier, with whoever winning the match attaining promotion to the Premier League.

Boro arguably have the advantage due to them only needing a draw to secure automatic promotion, whilst Brighton must win to seal a place in the top two.

We asked a handful of the FLW writers to give their predictions for this hotly anticipated match.....

Ryan Evans - Middlesbrough 1-2 Brighton

I'm going to stick with my prediction from a month ago that Brighton will get promoted this season.

Anthony Knockaert has been in incredible form of late, deservedly winning the Championship player of the month award for April.

With Sam Baldock back in the squad, and the fact that any game that him and Tomer Hemed have played together they haven't lost, I think the pressure that Middlesbrough will be under will be too much.

No one expects Brighton to do it, or at any point in the season have they, so they will go to the Riverside with nothing to lose, whilst if 'Boro are defeated, then it will be yet another year where they have come oh so close.

Momentum is also on Albion's side, as their late equaliser versus Derby should give them the belief that they can get the job done.

However, all Aitor Karanka's men will remember will be Daniel Ayala's wrongly disallowed goal. For those reasons, I think the Seagulls will edge this one 2-1.

Robert Booth - Middlesbrough 2-0 Brighton

I think Middlesbrough will win 2-0, it will be difficult for Brighton, especially with the game being at the Riverside.

I think after a tight, goalless first half, Boro will score early on in the second half before doubling their lead to see out the game.

In my opinion, Middlesbrough have the best squad in the league, and the majority of them were there last season when they lost the play-off final, so they'll be desperate to reward the fans.

On top of this, Brighton will be without Lewis Dunk through suspension, so the Seagulls are missing a top defender for the big game.

Elliott Wheat-Bowen - Middlesbrough 1-2 Brighton

In a one off shoot out for promotion, Middlesbrough face Brighton on the final day, in a game that has a feeling of a play-off final within the regular season.

Middlesbrough do have a far superior squad and home advantage however Brighton have the momentum and with James Wilson's last ditch equaliser against Derby, although it had no effect on the league table, it will give Brighton the psychological edge.

Especially considering Middlesbrough did the opposite giving up a winning lead at Birmingham that would've made this final game a formality.

Although there will be tough battles all over the pitch, Anthony Knockaert's individual brilliance may be enough as I predict a 2-1 victory for Brighton

Michael Hasan - Middlesbrough 2-1 Brighton

The pressure will be on Middlesbrough tomorrow in front of a full house and only needing a point for automatic promotion.

Their defence is the best in the league and if they get an early goal Brighton will have to chase the game and Middlesbrough will pick them off.

It will be close and tense tomorrow but I think Middlesbrough will deliver when it matters.
