Cardiff City take on Sheffield United this evening at the Cardiff City Stadium, with the home side looking to continue their 100% start to the season.

Wins over Burton Albion and Aston Villa have fired the Bluebirds up the table, and many will be surprised to see Neil Warnock’s men enjoying such an excellent start to the new campaign.

Tonight’s visitors began life back in the Championship with a hard fought home win over Brentford, before falling to a narrow loss to big spending Middlesbrough in a game that was overshadowed by crowd disturbances.

Coming up against his hometown club and the side he managed for 8 years will be a huge honour for Warnock this evening, but all sentiment will go out the window as the two sides scrap for the spoils.

Blades boss Chris Wilder has done an excellent job at Bramall Lane since his appointment last year, and based on their early season performances, the south Yorkshire side look good enough to survive the drop this year.

The form of last year’s League One top scorer Billy Sharp will provide a clear indication as to how well the Blades will perform this season, and after 30 goals in the third tier last time out, Sharp will be aiming to surpass the 15 goal mark with ease at the higher level.

Both side’s have plucked stars from the lower reaches of the English Football League, with Cardiff’s addition of Nathaniel Mendez-Laing proving a shrewd addition, and Enda Stevens and John Lundstram looking like they will play an important role at United this year.

Cardiff are yet to concede a goal this season and Sheffield United have seen just two goals in their opening two fixtures so far, so this could certainly be a very cagey affair in the Welsh capital this evening.

Cardiff’s early form suggests they should be good enough to take the win, and I think the odd goal will secure the spoils.

Cardiff to win 1-0.

Who do you think will take the points in south Wales this evening?
