With the Championship weekend action still fresh in the mind, attention now needs to be turned to the games in the second tier this week.
Indeed, the games just keep coming thick and fast in the Football League at the moment with another international break coming up and so teams will be looking to build some momentum.
Brentford and Derby, then, are no different as they face-off at Griffin Park in a game that looks very close to call.
Indeed, neither side is coming in to the game in brilliant form – results-wise at least – but you could argue that, performance-wise alone, it’s Brentford who are currently edging things going ahead of kick-off.
Certainly, the Bees played well against Bolton at the weekend as they won 3-0 whilst recent draws away at Aston Villa and at home to Reading have suggested that they are getting out of their early season rut.
Derby, meanwhile, drew at home to lowly Birmingham and lost 4-1 to Bristol City prior to that in the league, highlighting that Gary Rowett’s men are still far from the finished article.
And so, with that in mind, it’s more likely that Brentford are going to continue with their recovery in the league and record a big three points over the Rams.
Griffin Park should be in fine voice after the weekend and there’s a sense things are improving so that feeling might just yield a narrow win.
Score prediction: Brentford 2-1 Derby County
