Despite heading into October’s international break full of confidence following a commanding display against Leeds United, it has been a tough first few months for Sheffield Wednesday, with Carlos Carvalhal’s side struggling to make the impact they would have hoped.

Wednesday sit 12th in the table at this current time, having picked up 16 points from their opening 11 fixtures.

The Owls have struggled for any major consistency, which is reflected in whoscored.com’s average ratings, with not many of Carvalhal’s squad averaging over seven.

Here at FLW, we have looked to put together an XI made up of Wednesday’s top performers, according to whoscored.com.

Joe Wildsmith, who is deputising for Keiren Westwood at this current time, has the highest average of Wednesday's goalkeepers with 6.78, so gets the nod in goal.

Unsurprisingly, Jack Hunt (6.84), Tom Lees (7.08) and Joost van Aken (6.77) line up in defence, whilst at left-back, one of Wednesday’s problem positions, Daniel Pudil has the highest rating with 7.02.

Adam Reach is the Owls’ top performer with an average of 7.39, and he is on the left side of a midfield four including, Barry Bannan (6.87), David Jones (6.72) and Kieran Lee (7.09).

There is no place in attack for £7.2m-rated Jordan Rhodes, with Gary Hooper, who has an average rating of 7.17, partnered by Steven Fletcher (6.76).
