Sky Bet League One club Fleetwood Town were handed one of the toughest possible ties during last night’s draw for the FA Cup sponsored by Emirates first round, as they were pulled out alongside League One promotion hopefuls Walsall.

The Cod Army will travel to the West Midlands next weekend and boss Steven Pressley insists that his side must go there in a confident frame of mind, despite the quality of the opposition.

Following the draw the recently appointed gaffer spoke to the club’s official website.

He said: “It’ll be a tough game for us. In terms of teams we could have been drawn against in terms of form and position, then we couldn’t really have been handed a tougher draw.

“From my experience at Coventry in the cup then they are all extremely tough games. It’s just another game where we have to try and win.”

Pressley has overseen a mini revival since he took over at the Lancashire-based club, winning two and losing two of his four games in charge.

The Cod Army must remain focused on this Saturday’s game at home to Chesterfield before they can cast an eye towards the FA Cup, as they desperately seek more points on the board in League One.

Pressley’s side currently sit in 20th place in Sky Bet League One, after a poor start to the campaign which has seen them pick up 15 points from 15 league games.
