Fleetwood Town have confirmed the signing of Isak Thorvaldsson from Norwich City.

The midfielder arrives on a loan deal that will run until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old has been the star man of the Canaries' under-23 side this term but the decision has been made to let him gain valuable first team experience with the League One club.

Speaking to the Fleetwood Town website, Barton said: "Isak is a player that we have been watching for a while, and when the chance came to bring him to our club, we jumped at it.

“He’s a tough tacking midfielder, who will bring competition to our squad.

"He’s impressed in Norwich’s U23s despite only being 18, and we look forward to seeing him bring that form into our group.”

The verdict

This could be a very shrewd addition by Fleetwood Town.

Isak Thorvaldsson is regarded as one of the hottest young prospects in the Norwich City set-up and the Canaries certainly have high hopes for the midfielder.

A spell in League One could do wonders for his development and the chance to play under Joey Barton could be key for a player in his position as he looks to develop and push towards a career in the game.

If he can start that process with Fleetwood Town I'm sure he'll be thrilled.
