Should Jamie Vardy’s much publicised move from Leicester City to Arsenal go ahead, Fleetwood Town could well be the major beneficiaries, as they are set to receive a huge financial windfall (via the Coventry Telegraph) as a result of a sell on clause inserted in the former striker’s contract.

The League One side could well be set to earn as much as a reported £6.8million should the transfer go through, as they themselves look to build upon a 19th place finish in the third tier of English football.

Vardy, who has seen a dramatic rise to stardom in his career over recent years being capped by becoming a Premier League winner this year, is 33/1 with bookmakers Coral to win the golden boot award at the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament, and is expected to make Arsenal and Arsene Wenger wait until after the competition before revealing his choice.

Despite this, Fleetwood are pressing on with transfer plans, having recently released fourteen players, including former Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi and Danny Andrew among others.

Having crashed out at the first round stage at the hands of Cambridge United last season, many supporters will be wondering if their side can make it to the third round of the FA Cup for the first time since the 2011/12 season, in what could well prove to be another potential financial goldmine for the club. New manager Steven Pressley will certainly be wishing for a cup run in his first full season in charge, although his team are obviously rank outsiders for the competition in the FA Cup betting from Coral.

One man who will be looking to match the achievements of Vardy this summer is Fleetwood Town defender Conor McLaughlin, who came from nowhere to play a lead role in Northern Ireland’s qualification for Euro 2016.

The 24-year-old is in France preparing for his nations fixtures with world champions Germany, Poland and Ukraine, with Northern Ireland seen as the rank outsiders for the tournament, with odds of 300/1 from Coral alongside Hungary.
