Blackburn Rovers host Sheffield United in what is likely to be a closely fought game at Ewood Park this evening with both sides gunning for the top six.

Many would have predicted to see Sheffield United finish in the top six after missing out last season, and they come into the game tonight unbeaten in four matches, including a 3-2 away win over Millwall last weekend.

Billy Sharp has been in excellent form this season, netting six times already and will be hoping to lead his side to another three points to take them joint top of the Championship table.

Blackburn are also in good form, as they are unbeaten in five matches in all competitions and with a draw against Nottingham Forest and a win at Stoke City they have certainly shown they will be fighting in the top half of the table.

Rovers' good form has been largely down to midfielder Bradley Dack who has been in sincilating form this season with seven goals and five assists in all competitions.

It promises to be a lively encounter but who would make the starting XI between the two sides?

We have a look...

Dean Henderson is between the sticks after his good form has kept his side in many games this season and is vital to Sheffield United's high flying position this season.

Elliot Bennet occupies the right back spot as he makes the most tackles per game with three. Bennett also has chipped in with two assists this season.

Chris Basham has been ever present in the Sheffield United side and hasn't missed a match this season and is pivotal to Chris Wilder's team.

John Egan makes up a Sheffield United centre back pairing as he too has featured in all of their matches this season. Only Chris Basham has made more interceptions in the Sheffield United squad per game this season.

Charlie Mulgrew takes the left back position after netting three times this season already after seven appearances.

Oliver Norwood seals the central midfield spot after the on-loan Northern Irish international already has three assists and the most accurate passes in the Sheffield United squad this season.

Richard Smallwood partners Norwood after already racking up 810 minutes of action this season. With an average of 2.6 tackles per game this season, Smallwood is vital to the defensive side of Blackburn's style.

Enda Stevens occupies the left midfielder position in the starting XI. The Irishman already has two assists to his name and only Basham and Egan make more tackles per game so Stevens has proved himself in both ends of the pitch this season.

Kieron Freeman takes the right side of midfield spot with two goals and one assist to his name already this season. Like his team mate Enda Stevens, Freeman is vital at both ends of the pitch for Sheffield United.

Billy Sharp has netted six times this season and the Sheffield United captain was a no brainer to include in the combined XI.

Bradley Dack has also been in fine form, scoring seven times and assisting five times. Tony Mowbray faces a tough task to keep Dack at the club if he is to keep up his good form.
