Nottingham Forest will begin their Championship campaign at Bristol City as they embark on what they hope will be a superb season that ends in promotion.

After that, they will face a real test when West Brom come to the City Ground although it could be a good time to play the relegated side as they get to grips with the division.

Following that, they have a very winnable few games starting with Reading at home, a side who had a very poor away record last season.

Then, they face the first of the newly-promoted teams as they travel to Wigan Athletic before they welcome Birmingham City in another game they will hope to pick maximum points from.

The final game before the first international break of the season sees Forest travel to Brentford. Aitor Karanka will have made several more additions to his squad by the time it starts on August 4.

The Verdict

It's an exciting time to be a Forest fan with new signings Joao Carvalho and Diogo Goncalves showing the ambition of the club.

And, they will be pleased with the start they've been given. Obviously, every game is tough and you can't predict any result with complete certainty but from the six games the Reds will be hoping to get at least ten points which would leave them in and around the play-offs.

They face a good variety of teams, from newly-promoted to recently relegated so it will throw up plenty of challenges and be a good indicator to Karanka of where his side are.
