Ian Holloway started off his second spell as Queens Park Rangers manager in strong fashion, watching side his triumph 2-1 over promotion contenders Norwich City.

This means that the R's now sit 13th in the table from 17 games - with 6 wins, 6 defeats and 5 draws.

The R's are definitely underachieving when you look at the quality and experience in the squad, however a Championship expert like Holloway will undoubtedly get the best out of them.

And with the January transfer window looming, now is the perfect time for Holloway to get rid of the deadwood and bring in fresh, new talent who will galvanise a return to the top flight.

Value for money is poor in January so the loan market might be QPR's best hope of bringing in real quality.

And in order to do just that, here, FLW writer George Harbey identifies FIVE Premier League players that the R's should look to bring in on loan in January...

Jordan Rhodes

For a player of Rhodes' calibre and quality, it comes as a shock that the 26-year-old is surplus to requirements at Middlesbrough.

The forward, who has scored 185 goals in 355 career appearances, has only made 2 appearances for Aitor Karanka's men this year, therefore a loan move could be likely in January.

Rhodes is prolific in the Championship, having netted double figures for 4 successive campaigns, and would be a perfect acquisition for Holloway's men, who lack a proven goalscorer in their ranks.

Benik Afobe

Afobe is another striker who is prolific in the second tier but hasn't really been given a chance in the top flight.

The 23-year-old has only made one appearance for AFC Bournemouth this term, despite netting 4 times in 16 games in his debut season in the Premier League last season.

Afobe netted 13 times in 21 games in the 2014/15 Championship campaign, and followed up his tally with another 9 goals the next campaign, before sealing a move to Eddie Howe's men in January.

Lewis Cook

The Football League Young Player of the Year for last year is another young starlet that Bournemouth are not really using.

The former Leeds midfielder has made just one appearance for the Cherries this term, and has been linked with a move back to Elland Road in January.

The 19-year-old would be a superb asset for the R's, who need another midfielder in order to bolster the core of their squad.

Rob Holding

Holding has been thrown right into the deep end at Arsenal, featuring in 3 Premier League games this season against tough opposition.

Big things were expected of the former Bolton Wanderers defender when he arrived at the Emirates, however he is still learning while playing at the back for the Gunners this term.

A loan move away from Arsenal would be beneficial for the 21-year-old, and a push for promotion with the R's would be ideal for his progress in his career.

Cameron Brannagan

Perhaps one of the brightest starlets in the Premier League, Brannagan thoroughly deserves his chance playing regularly week in week out.

Jurgen Klopp has utilised the 20-year-old-three times this term, and he has impressed the Anfield faithful with his energy in midfield.

Brannagan would be a fantastic addition on loan, and would complete a lively trio of Tjaronn Chery and Yeni Ngbakoto in midfield.
