Thanks to their location in the north-east of Scotland, Aberdeen have got the pick of the good young players in their area.

The men from the Granite City are by far the biggest club for quite a distance in their part of the country, and that means they've seen some good players come through over the years.

With that in mind, we thought we'd take a look at some of the graduates from the Dons' academy, with many of them established names on these shores now.

See if you remember these five coming through at Pittodrie...

The Celtic stopper's career started at Aberdeen, though he never got the chance to play for the club he was at as a youngster.

A loan move to Elgin saw him earn his professional debut before significant spells at Alloa and Dundee eventually paved the way for a move to Hibs, and then the current Scottish champions.

The talented defender was based in the Granite City for a fair while whilst also spending some of his youth career at Celtic.

He'd not play a senior game for the Dons, therefore, with him currently at Kilmarnock after spells with Partick Thistle and Luton Town.

The English forward was signed by the Dons after he left Manchester City and he initially played in their youth set-up.

He only made a handful of appearances before moving out on loan around Scotland, before moving back south to play for Blackburn. He now finds himself at Blackpool.

The Rotherham United man was at Aberdeen for the first half of the last decade after coming through at his local club.

However, he never really nailed down a place and it's only since moving to Blackpool and now the Millers that he is regularly getting minutes.

Paton started off at the club but spent periods during his spell out on loan at Brechin City ant Stockport County.

He now finds himself at Queen of the South having played for the likes of Dumbarton and Dunfermline.
