Sky Bet Championship outfit Leeds United will embark on the dawn of a new era next season, with Garry Monk the latest manager to be tasked with reviving the flailing West Yorkshire-based club.

The former Swansea City boss arrived at Elland Road just under a fortnight ago and he will have the unenviable task of building a squad capable of improving on Leeds’ 13th placed finish in the Sky Bet Championship last season.

The Whites have already been linked with several players ahead of the 2016/17 campaign and it looks inevitable that Monk will look to bring a string of new additions to the club this summer.

An article in the Yorkshire Evening Post has linked Leeds with a move for highly-rated Oxford United striker Kemar Roofe and it looks very likely that the Whites will try and secure the services of the 23-year-old this summer.

With Roofe unlikely to be the only summer recruit, Football League World writer Lee Clarke takes a look at five other players who could make the switch to West Yorkshire before next season gets underway.

Leon Britton

The Swansea City midfielder is a legendary player with the Welsh club and played with Garry Monk, as well as being managed by him.

The 33-year-old would add some experience to what is a relatively young Leeds United squad and with Britton not getting any younger, now could be the ideal time for him to move away from the Liberty Stadium.

The former West Ham United trainee would be seen as a coup should he sign for any Sky Bet Championship club and Monk’s relationship with the player might help Leeds secure a deal.

Another plus to signing Britton would be his low value and given his age he is unlikely to break the bank should he switch to Leeds.

Sam Winnall

Leeds United were thwarted in their attempts to bring the Barnsley striker to Elland Road back in January when ex-boss Steve Evans tried to sign him.

The 25-year-old netted 23 goals for Barnsley last season, playing a big part in the club’s run from bottom of the league to the Play-Off Final where they were promoted following a 3-1 win over Millwall.

Whether Winnall would score goals in the Sky Bet Championship is open for discussion but given the quality of some of his performances in League One last season he would certainly be a risk worth taking.

Marvin Emnes

Another former Swansea City man who Garry Monk might choose to take a bit of a punt on is Dutch striker Marvin Emnes.

The striker has not had the best of times in the Premier League since his arrival at Swansea City and a move could be on the horizon for the summer.

A fresh start away from the Liberty Stadium, and indeed the Premier League, could be just the tonic needed to kick-start Emnes’ career in English football.

Monk will know all about the strengths of Emnes and he might feel that he could do enough in the Championship to fire Leeds towards the play-offs.

Matty Taylor

Bristol Rovers striker Taylor smashed 27 goals last season and looks set for a summer departure from the newly promoted League One outfit.

Taylor has netted 47 goals in total since arriving at the Memorial Stadium just less than two years ago and the striker is catching the eye of several potential suitors.

Despite a remarkable couple of seasons for Bristol Rovers, in which they have won back-to-back promotions, if the right offer comes in for Taylor the club know that they will be forced to sell.

Leeds United is still a massive football club and if Monk wants a natural born finisher to add to his team then Taylor could be his man.

Danny Graham

The striker was released by Sunderland last week following the expiry of his contract and he will make a really solid free transfer for someone in the Sky Bet Championship.

Leeds will be keen to bolster their attacking ranks and Graham’s seven goals during a short-term loan at Blackburn Rovers show he would be a decent signing for a second tier club.

Celtic have also been heavily linked to the player recently and with interest set to be high in the target man, Leeds might need to act quickly on this one.

Graham’s time at Sunderland was extremely unsuccessful and the striker will want to consign that spell of his career to the history books.

Leeds United fans, would you welcome these five signings to Elland Road? Who else would you like to see Garry Monk sign?
