Cardiff City could be set for an interesting January transfer window ahead, as Neil Harris potentially looks to add to his squad.

The Bluebirds are currently sat 15th in the Championship table, and will be eager to push themselves up the second-tier standings at the earliest of opportunities.

Football League World's Cardiff City fan Ben Johnsey has given us FIVE players that the club should be targeting during the January transfer window.

Find out who the first one is, on the next page.

Bursting onto the scene in the 18/19 season, Yan Valery joined the list of exciting young full-backs in the Premier League.

Scoring twice and getting one assist in his first full campaign. In the seasons to follow, Valery would see less and less minutes making only 12 appearances in the 19/20 campaign and is yet to feature for the Saints this season.

This could be a perfect move for everyone involved, gaining the player key minutes. While also helping Cardiff's dire right-back situation which currently see’s Bacuna reluctantly playing as a makeshift full back.

Currently linked with a move away, Dembele could be the perfect signing to help offer depth on the wing for Cardiff without breaking the bank.

Known for his raw pace and dribbling ability he offers exactly what the Bluebirds need, who have lacked pace going forward since Mendez Laing’s release in the summer.

With ten goal contributions in 19 appearances this season for Peterborough the 24-year-old will drum up a lot of interest from Championship clubs, so Cardiff will have to act quickly should they show interest.

With Kieffer Moore out injured and Glatzel currently off target Cardiff will be looking to land a striker next month, and I believe Luke Jephcott could be the perfect signing.

With 14 goals in 20 appearances this season, the 20-year-old striker is catching the eye of the Welsh fans, with many feeling he will be the next long term striker for the national team.

While Plymouth will likely value him highly I believe Cardiff should sign him no matter the price, or potentially live to regret it in the future as they have with the likes of Ollie Watkins in the past.

It's highly likely that Cardiff will look to spend no money this month choosing to focus on loans and free transfers, if so I believe Cardiff should take a look at Keinan Davis.

The Aston Villa forward is yet to score a Premier League goal and looks set to depart on loan in January.

Though having watched the forward I believe he offers the build and play style that could see him flourish at Cardiff, and begin to find the net more regularly.

With Lee Tomlin sidelined Cardiff have lacked depth in the middle of the park. Creativity has also been a huge problem and will likely see Cardiff in the market for a second striker.

I believe Matej Vydra could be a brilliant statement signing and will go a long way to improve the Bluebirds going forward. The Czech attacker has struggled with Burnley since signing from Derby in 2018, though he is still thought to be one of the best at Championship level.

While it will be an expensive loan there's no denying the 28-year-old's ability, scoring 22 times for Derby in the 17/18 season. Vydra would add a clinical goal scoring threat, Something Cardiff have struggled with since Kieffer Moore’s injury.
