Blackburn Rovers are one of the surprise packages of the season so far in the Championship.

Tony Mowbray’s side earned plaudits from around the league when they defeated the early pace setters Leeds United last weekend.

Sadly for them, they couldn’t claim another big scalp in their next game, which saw them lose to Swansea City.

Charlie Mulgrew’s first half goal from the penalty spot was cancelled out by a David Raya own goal, as well as strikes from Connor Roberts and Bersant Celina.

This last week highlighted a big problem for Mowbray’s men - a lack of consistency.

After promotion last season, not a lot was expected of the Rovers this campaign, with many just expecting a year of avoiding relegation.

However, after a few pleasing wins, fans have started to believe that a play-off push could be well on.

Blackburn enter the weekend ninth in the table, having won five games. This position is just three points off the play-offs, where Norwich are on 24 points.

But if this play-off push is to happen, Mowbray’s side need to become more consistent and start putting some runs together.

Mowbray will want consistency and now, leading up to Christmas, is the time to deliver.

In a league of such fine margins, Blackburn need to put a run of form together, as two wins in a week can see teams catapult up the table.

If Blackburn do this, they are serious play-off candidates.
