Derby County have confirmed that forward Mason Bennett has left the club to join fellow Championship side Millwall on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old has featured in just seven league games under Phillip Cocu this season with a combination of factors, including his involvement in the drink-driving car crash with teammate Tom Lawrence and injuries, keeping him out the team.

Therefore, Cocu has been happy to move the attacker on and Derby announced on their official site that a loan move to the Lions has gone through.

He will be linking up with former boss Gary Rowett at The Den, who will hope to get Bennett back to his best over the coming months when he could make the move to the capital on a free in the summer.

It's fair to say that the departure of the academy graduate has prompted a mixed reaction from the fans, with some happy to see him go whereas others felt he had a role to play moving forward.
