Stuart Dallas has been named as The Athletic's Leeds United player of the season, which has drawn an excited reaction from fans of the Yorkshire club.

Leeds are top of the Championship with nine games still left of the 2019/20 campaign but their promotion push has been put on hold due to the delay to the season.

All EFL games have been suspended for more than a month and during the delay, The Athletic have announced their picks for Leeds player and young player of the season, which were decided by Phil Hay.

Central defender Ben White was named young player of the season and it has been announced today that Dallas has received the player of the year award.

There have been a number of outstanding individuals in the Whites side this term, including the likes of Luke Ayling and Kalvin Phillips, but Dallas got the nod.

The Northern Irishman has started every Championship game and been utilised in a range of positions by Marcelo Bielsa this term, including as right-back, left-back, central midfielder, and a winger.

The 29-year-old  has been a reliable performer every time – always giving 100% and epitomising Bielsa's side before self ideology.

Has Kalvin Phillips done these 12 things at Leeds United? Have a go now!

Picking Dallas certainly appears to have been well-received by fans of the Yorkshire club, many of whom took to Twitter to express their excitement.
